As a female travelling alone some people feel they have to protect me;
I get invited to meals, given shelter and it is easy to hitch hike. As
a female travelling alone I am aware that there are also people who
wish me harm, this results in a heightened awareness; it takes a while
to trust anybody but even then I cannot let my guard down, never
showing I'm afraid or fragile.
